Info and Legal things

Firstly, we do need to say that although we know our soaps do sound good enough to eat, they are not edible and we strongly recommend that you don’t eat them, only wash with them. Therefore, it might be best to also keep them away from unattended children or over-curious  pets, just to be on the safe side.

Certification:

We are pleased to let you know that our soap is certified as safe for use as a cosmetic product, in accordance with the requirements for UK and EU legislation, namely Council Directive 76/768/EEC. We have a certified extremely well established history of safe use and are officially ‘safe’ to market within the EU. If you would like any more specific information about this please don’t hesitate to email us with your query, which we will endeavour to answer.

About our use of Palm Oil:

We know that the use of palm oil can cause concern, and sometimes quite rightly. However, we found that it really is excellent to use in our soaps in a small quantity to make the lather creamy and the soap bar harder and longer lasting. That’s why we sourced the most environmentally and ethically sound palm oil we could find. We now use an organic palm oil from a sustainable supplier in Columbia. It’s not from Indonesia or Malaysia so no orangutans were made homeless to produce it!  The company it comes from are also one of the founding members of the RSPO (Round Table for Sustainable Production of Palm Oil). We hope this allays your concerns, but we can also make soap without palm oil so if you are still concerned or would prefer your soaps to be made without palm oil, please contact us at simplyportugalsoaps@gmail.com

Allergies:

Please be aware that our soaps do contain essential oils and other natural ingredients to which some people can be allergic. We have tried to be as detailed as possible in the ingredients details on the page ‘The Soaps’, but the batches can vary from time to time so if there is anything you know you are particularly allergic to it might be best to drop us an email so we can check to see if a particular soap is safe for you to use.
